Active Transportation Network
The mission of the Active Transportation (AT) Network is to make Manitoba communities AT friendly by providing an opportunity for members to share resources, ideas and information, and to collaborate or complement each other’s efforts.
Members of the AT Network gather twice per year (typically October and May) and for special opportunities, such as to hear a guest speaker. Ongoing sharing of resources and information is conducted through the AT Network listserv.
Active Transportation is defined as any human-powered mode of transportation, such as walking, cycling, in-line skating, skateboarding, ice skating, cross-country skiing, etc.

The AT Network formed in 2007 with the purpose of connecting the burgeoning number of groups and initiatives related to active transportation issues in Manitoba. The AT Network’s development started with the “Active Transportation Breakfast of Champions” workshop hosted by the Physical Activity Coalition of Manitoba (PACM) in May of that year, when participants identified partnerships and collaboration as a key priority.
The PACM Active Transportation Task Group organized two subsequent meetings in the fall of 2007 for those who wished to form a network. The goal of the network would be to allow members to communicate and share resources, as well as coordinate and cross-promote activities and in this way, add to the effectiveness of our individual group efforts. This is being accomplished through the AT Network listserv, web pages, meetings, and special events.
